Condensation

My heart
Has one chamber
Where no one
Dares set foot
The ceiling is dripping wet
As the floors breathe
And breath condensates
And the cobwebs stick to the doorknobs
And everything living there dies

I had your heart knocking
On that forgotten door
Your fist clenched and teeth gritting
For hours on end
But no one came
No one came

I loved you each time you shattered my mirrors
I bled onto the shards joyfully
Creating the most broken art
One can make without having a body
I loved you when you cared for me
And I loved you when you found me foul
I loved you when you faded away
Again, and again, and again

My heart
Is a harp
With no strings
Just a frame
Wood eaten away by the essence of time
Phantom notes circling round like vultures
Moist strands of dead trees
And their breath condensates
And the cobwebs stick to the doorknobs
And everything living there dies

Your words were poisonous
And I drank a spoonful
And as I fell ill you were plotting your demise
I said, ‘there was a small depression
In the form of a woman
In the air around me
Since you’ve been gone’
And your eyes widened and you said you loved me too
Then you shattered my trust vial again

I watched you through the keyhole
Sitting skinless in my chamber
Your fist clenched and teeth gritting
For hours on end
But I could not bring myself
To open the door

My heart
Has a chamber
Where only one man had ever gone
And he defiled it and cursed it
And it is now haunted
By the souls of all the words
I never said

My heart
Has a marble door
Leading up to a dark corridor
Onyx covered windowsills
And warped painted portraits
Of all the ones who cared for me
Enough to cut off pieces of me
And keep them to themselves
And there I now put up
Three pictures of you
And they breathe in the night
Wheezing through the canvas
And breath
It condensates
